The John Alexander Singers return to the beautiful Mission Basilica in a tribute to "women who have striven and suffered… whose character and courage have earned them enduring dignity." Selections include Bernstein's music for The Lark, a play about Joan of Arc, celebrating the 600th year since her birth, and an encore performance of David Lang's The Little Match Girl Passion, in a new staging that will then travel to France for the work's Paris premiere in summer 2012.
