Pacific Chorale

Pacific Chorale is one of America's great choirs, delighting national and international audiences with exceptional choral performances since 1968. Under the inspired guidance of Artistic Director John Alexander, Pacific Chorale has infused an Old World art form with California’s hallmark innovation and cultural independence.

Internationally recognized for exceptional artistic expression, stimulating American-focused programming, and influential education programs, Pacific Chorale is a touchstone in its field. Pacific Chorale presents a substantial performance season of its own and is sought regularly to perform with the nation’s leading symphonies.
 

Highlights

  • Resident choir of the celebrated new Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall, in Segerstrom Center for the Arts, part of the expanded Orange County Performing Arts Center 
  • One of the top 10 budgeted choruses in the nation
  • Professional-core chorus of 140 singers
  • 130 professional-level volunteer singers donate hundreds of hours each year with weekly rehearsals and a rigorous performance schedule
  • Two ensembles: 140-voice Pacific Chorale and 24-voice John Alexander Singers
  • Artistic Director since 1972, John Alexander is considered one of the finest choral conductors in the country
  • Approximately 20 concerts annually heard by nearly 40,000 audience members
  • Self-produced concert series (8 performances) at Orange County Performing Arts Center
  • Guest choir for leading regional and visiting orchestras, including Pacific Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Boston Pops

 

International Scene

  • Two Chorus America awards, including the prestigious “Margaret Hillis Achievement Award for Choral Excellence,” named for famed founder and director laureate of the Chicago Symphony Chorus
