Planned Giving & Endowment
"When we saw the announcement for The Encore Society, we called Vina Williams, the Encore Society Chair, and said, 'I guess we are already de facto members, because several years ago we set up a Charitable Remainder Trust that includes the Chorale!'" Tom and Anne Henley have been singing for over 35 years. Meeting at California State University, Fullerton as music majors, they soon discovered they had a mutual love of choral music. During their college years at CSUF they sang under David Thorsen. After college, Tom and Anne continued their passion for music, singing with the Orange County Master Chorale, and later, joining Pacific Chorale. Tom and Anne both have sung with Pacific Chorale for over 10 years now, attending rehearsals together every Monday night. "Singing with Pacific Chorale allows us to have a creative outlet. There is always something inspiring in singing, no matter how tired we are," notes Tom. Music has indeed been one of the most important part of their lives. When Tom and Anne began creating their estate plans, they thought about which projects or causes were important to them. Both educators (Anne teaches junior high and Tom teaches elementary school), they agreed that quality, live musical experiences must be made available to future generations. Tom shares, "As teachers in the trenches, we see first hand how music is slowly disappearing from public schools and we are worried about it having a future. We want to make sure that institutions are available to promote it. With our gift, we have an opportunity to do something about this situation." Keeping this in mind, Tom and Anne decided to include Pacific Chorale in their estate plans by creating a Charitable Remainder Trust. "Pacific Chorale has an educational outreach program that attracted us. Also, we see the Chorale as a motivating force for exceptional vocal students. Pacific Chorale gives us all an organization in which to possibly participate and one that allows us to hear and perform great choral music." Encore SocietyThe Encore Society recognizes and honors those who have included Pacific Chorale as part of their estate planning. By remembering Pacific Chorale in a will, an insurance policy or retirement plan, by establishing a charitable remainder trust, or through any other planned-giving vehicle, you have the opportunity to leave a definite legacy and ensure the preservation of quality choral music and education.
