PACIFIC CHORALE CANCELS MOZART CORONATION MASS CONCERT IN RESPONSE TO CORONAVIRUS
Costa Mesa, CA – Given the events of the past week, and the CDC’s new guidelines advising the cancellation of gatherings of 50 or more people during the next eight weeks, it saddens us to announce that we have decided to cancel our May 16 season closing concert and Chairman’s Dinner. This was not an easy decision, but a necessary one for the safety and health of our audience, our artists, and our community at large.
If you have already purchased tickets this performance, know that we fully share your disappointment. Although we hope to be able to reschedule the performance, taking into consideration the ever-changing situation at present, we do not expect to have a new date secured for some time to come. With that in mind, please consider the following options for the handling of your tickets:

Given the high degree of uncertainty for the near term, we will not be able to reschedule the Mozart Coronation Mass concert or the Chairman’s Dinner within the current season. Once we get through the urgency of managing this crisis, the Pacific Chorale team will focus on how/when we can reschedule these events, and/or adapt our plans for next season to incorporate these changes. We will do our best to keep you informed as our plans continue to evolve.

Looking to the further horizon, plans to continue with our annual Choral Festival in August are moving forward, with singer registration scheduled to begin May 1st. We imagine by August we will all need that time to raise our voices together in healing and in song!

PACIFIC CHORALE CANCELS SONGS OF THE SOUL CONCERT IN RESPONSE TO CORONAVIRUS
Costa Mesa, CA – On behalf of Artistic Director Rob Istad, Board Chair Tom Pridonoff, and myself, it is with a heavy heart, but with the sincerest and utmost concern for the health and safety of our artists, staff, and patrons that we have made the decision to cancel our upcoming Songs of the Soul concert at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church on Saturday, March 21, 2020. We came to this conclusion given the rapidly changing COVID-19/coronavirus situation and as advised last night by California Governor Gavin Newsom.
This is most certainly the right decision, given the growing concerns. The only practical way to ensure all our constituents’ safety and sense of security right now is to minimize the risk by encouraging all our Pacific Chorale family to take care of themselves individually and to avoid participation in large public gatherings.
Rob Istad and the singers have all been working so incredibly hard on this program and I know it would have been an absolutely beautiful concert! Very soon we will focus on determining when we can reschedule this program to share their incredible artistry and this remarkable music with you, our devoted community – when it will be safe and SO NECESSARY to feed our souls!
As a result of this cancellation we are providing several options regarding your tickets for this event, at no additional charge to you.
We are developing contingency plans for the remainder of the spring, given the uncertainty of how long this crisis will last. At present, we are planning to proceed with the Mozart concert and Chairman’s Dinner as scheduled on May 16, 2020. We will keep you informed as the situation continues to evolve.

Pacific Chorale is resilient. You are resilient. After this difficult time passes, we are all going to hunger for a program like Songs of the Soul to nourish our spirits, rejuvenate our sense of self, and celebrate our resiliency as a community. I for one, cannot wait for that evening to occur!
