We open our 50th season and welcome new Artistic Director Robert Istad with music that explores the human need to understand our place in the universe and to connect with eternity, including the U.S. premiere of Composer in Residence Tarik O’Regan’s "A Celestial Map of the Sky," James Hopkins’ "Songs of Eternity"—commissioned in 1992 for our 25th season—and a salute to Leonard Bernstein’s centennial with his exuberantly theatrical "Mass."
