James Hopkins’ Songs of Eternity (1992) on text by Rabindranath Tagore was commissioned by the Philharmonic Society of Orange County in honor of Pacific Chorale’s 25th season and is dedicated to the memory of David Lee Shanbrom (1958–1986). It is paired here with Voices (1988) by the late Stephen Paulus (1949–2014) on text by Rainer Maria Rilke. Performed by Pacific Chorale and Pacific Symphony, with John Alexander conducting.
