COSTA MESA, CA (January 4, 2023) – The Grammy Award-winning Pacific Chorale, led by Artistic Director Robert Istad, is holding auditions for singers in the alto, tenor and bass sections for entry in the ensemble’s 2023-24 season. (The choir’s soprano section is currently balanced.) Singers can apply online at https://www.pacificchorale.org/auditions/. The audition application is brief, and there is no cost to apply. Applications must be submitted no later than 5 pm on January 25, 2023. Singers must possess a high level of musical and vocal ability, and experience in ensemble singing is essential. All new singers admitted to Pacific Chorale must be fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19.

In-person auditions will be scheduled in February on a first-applied, first-served basis. Pacific Chorale, considered among the nation’s leading choirs, is the resident choir at Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, California.

“We anticipate record audition interest this cycle and encourage applicants to apply as soon as possible,” says Istad. “Pacific Chorale is seeking talented singers from across Southern California to add their voices to our ensemble and to serve as a broader voice of our community. If you have missed singing in a choral ensemble, then this is a great time to consider Pacific Chorale.”

Pacific Chorale is an Orange County “treasure” with a “fresh viewpoint” that “can sing anything you put in front of it, with polish, poise and tonal splendor” (Orange County Register) that has “risen to national prominence” (Los Angeles Times). The choir, comprised of a diverse, dedicated, and enthusiastic group of singers, performs on world-class stages with some of the nation’s leading orchestras. Its extensive repertoire ranges from choral/orchestral masterworks to a cappella treasures and world-premiere compositions. Pacific Chorale’s annual concert schedule typically includes six or seven self-produced performances each season and numerous guest appearances with ensembles such as Pacific Symphony and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Pacific Chorale singers pay no dues or music deposit fees as members of the ensemble. For more information on Pacific Chorale, visit www.pacificchorale.org.
