World Premiere: What the Soul Already Knows by Jocelyn Hagen (Oct 25, 2025)

Our season opens with a world premiere commission from Minnesota-based composer Jocelyn Hagen exploring the question: What do we hold sacred?

Featuring existing and newly commissioned poetry by seven living poets, this stunning new oratorio invites audiences to reflect on nature, belonging, and shared values—resonating deeply with the spirit of America250.

The Sacred Veil: Eric Whitacre’s Contemporary Masterwork (Mar 21, 2026)

With his signature warmth and emotional depth, Eric Whitacre’s The Sacred Veil offers a profound meditation on love, grief, and healing. Paired with Three Songs of Faith, this concert speaks to the personal journeys that define our American experience.

A Serenade to Music: John Alexander’s Return to the Podium (May 23, 2026)

A Serenade to Music celebrates the remarkable legacy of John Alexander, whose nearly six decades of leadership and vision have left an indelible mark on California’s choral community and beyond. As Artistic Director Emeritus of Pacific Chorale, John championed artistic excellence, mentorship, and the creation of new music. This special program pays tribute to his influence with works by composers he has long championed, admired, and even premiered, offering a rich tapestry of sound in honor of a life devoted to choral artistry.

As California marks 175 years of statehood and our nation looks to its 250th birthday, Pacific Chorale celebrates the voices that define us: diverse, hopeful, and united in song. Our commemorative concerts explore America’s many stories—told by living composers, historic icons, and the people in our seats and on our stage.

Join us in this musical tribute to reflection, resilience, and renewal.
